This model was released as a one off limited edition, and unlike other ‘One offs’, this one to date (2020) actually has remained as a one off, never having been reproduced since 1989.
This model appeals to both Yesteryear collectors and model train collectors alike and a total of 33,296 models were produced.
The train on the rear was a model of a G.E.R. class E4 2-4-0 locomotive and this model was the largest and most expensive Yesteryear model produced at the time of release.
Originally selling for GBP £29.99 this model sold out within weeks; despite the initial worries of Matchbox that it wouldnt sell well due to its size and price.
The trailer was a very lifelike representation of the real thing, being that it had three seperate parts, the first part is the gooseneck which attaches to the rear of the truck connecting it to the second part of the trailer which is of course the main body, behind that is the third and final part of the trailer; that being the steersmans cab.

This model was originally intended to part of a set of four (4) racing cars; including the 1930 Bentley, 1935 ERA and 1932 Bugatti to be used to promote the sponsorship by Matchbox of a historic car race. Although the race went ahead, Matchbox pulled the sponsorship in the end due to costs being way to high.
Total production was 97,000 models
