In 2005 the premium Superfast range was released in two different versions, the same model was released in all markets but with different colours being used between the USA and the ROW ranges. The USA range was advertised as 1 of up to 15,500 pieces whereas the ROW range was simply stated as a Limited Edition
In 2004 a new range titled the ”Stars of Cars” was created and released throughout Europe. With the success of the ”Stars of Germany” range this allowed a wider variety in the models available for the series.
Some of the models had the brand ”Dinky” tampo printed on the base in white, this was a ploy by Mattel to ensure they protected the copyright by using the brand so its lack of use didnt mean the copyright would fall into another companies possession.
Starting in 1998 there were several sub-series of vehicles all utilising the Coca-Cola brand as a theme. Some of these were released under the banner of Matchbox Collectibles in a premiere fashion whilst others were in a specially coloured window box and were more like the mainline series.
